From there, it’s up to you: join up with a team for moral support and set shared goals, or enter into a challenge to get your competitive juices flowing. Next? Get on your bike and ride.

Bartholomew County, IN Commit to Commute
Columbus Regional Hospital (Columbus, IN) has had an internal Commit- to-Commute program for about 3 years and this past year, with funding from the Dept. of Health and Human Services, we’ve turned this into a community competition.
Greenlightride has been a great tool to spread the competition to other workplaces. Participants set their own goal for how many miles they will ride between May 1 and October 31 and then log their miles. Reach Healthy Communities, our grant funded work, provides monthly drawings for prizes to anyone who’s logged their miles that month, and final prizes will be awarded for most miles and most trips. So far participants have logged about 10,000 miles and we’ll use this data to help with our advocacy.
